Calgon Carbon Opens Center of Excellence in Belgium
PITTSBURGH, PA July 10, 2000 Calgon Carbon Corporation
announced today the opening of a Center of Excellence in Feluy,
Belgium. The company is establishing Centers of Excellence in Europe
and the U.S. to centralize key processes and people at one location to
provide the best service to its customers. The Center of Excellence at
Feluy combines the company's European headquarters, formerly in
Brussels, with its Benelux sales office and its carbon reactivation
operation at Feluy.
Establishing the Center of Excellence is an important step in
implementing the company's long-term growth strategy which focuses on
providing value added services to customers worldwide. Calgon Carbon's
operation at Feluy includes the world's largest granular activated
carbon reactivation facilities which provide a wide range of
customized services to customers throughout Europe. A second Center of
Excellence is also scheduled to open in the third quarter at the
company's corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Commenting on the announcement, Jim Cederna, Calgon Carbon's president
and chief executive officer, said, "With the creation of the Center of
Excellence at Feluy, we have brought together for the first time key
sales and administrative functions and our largest operation in Europe
at one central location. By streamlining our operations for growth, we
will offer faster, higher quality service to our valued customers
throughout Europe."
