Calgon Carbon Announces Newest Odor Control System
Pittsburgh, PA May 20, 2002 Calgon Carbon Corporation announced
today the introduction of its latest municipal odor control product,
Phoenix XT.
Calgon Carbon Corporation has been a provider of odor control
products to municipalities and industries around the world for
over thirty years. Wastewater treatment facility processes often
produce odorous emissions that must be controlled. These emissions
usually consist of hydrogen sulfide and various organic sulfide
compounds. These odorous compounds constitute a nuisance to the
surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.
Phoenix XT is an evolutionary product that combines Calgon
Carbon's patented Phoenix system with its unique Titan
system. The combination of these two activated carbon systems
creates an integrated package that can effectively control virtually
any municipal wastewater odor problem. Phoenix XT can treat
odorous airflow rates between 3,000 30,000 cubic feet per
minute.
Compared to alternative technologies, such as multi-stage chemical
scrubbers and biofilters, Phoenix XT provides more effective
odor removal in a package that takes up less space. Phoenix XT
is designed to remove 99.9% of all odorous compounds. Most importantly,
Phoenix XT's combined purchase and maintenance costs are less
than any of the equivalent competitive products.
Commenting on the Phoenix XT, Charles Fluharty, director
of marketing of Calgon Carbon Corporation's Engineered Solution
Group, said, "Phoenix XT is an example of our ability to integrate
our technologies to provide solutions to difficult odor emission
problems faced by municipalities around the world."
