Phoenix Odor Control System Provides Cost-Effective Treatment
of H2S from Air Streams
(PITTSBURGH) -- November 12, 1997 -- Calgon Carbon Corporation has
announced the introduction of the Phoenix line of odor control
systems, which were presented at the Water Environment Federation
Annual Conference and Exposition (WEFTEC) in Chicago in
October.
The Phoenix system (patent pending) was designed by Calgon Carbon
Corporation's research and development team to remove odors caused by
H2S in applications like municipal wastewater treatment and remote
municipal pumping and lift stations. The system works with Calgon
Carbon's patented Centaur®-HP activated carbon, providing a more
cost-effective alternative to current technologies like conventional
granular deep-bed carbon odor control systems.
One of the highlights of the Phoenix system is its unique ability to
remain on-line while the Centaur-HP is being water washed. The system
is segmented into banks, which can be shut off and regenerated
individually. Water washing for 60 minutes restores the original H2S
adsorptive capacity of the carbon within each bank.
Phoenix is available in air flows of 4,000-30,000 CFM. The system
requires no chemicals, boasts a smaller footprint than competing
technologies and operates at a lower cost than deep-bed
technologies.
