Calgon Carbon Corporation Acquires German DVGW W294 Certification
For Sentinel UV Disinfection Reactor
PITTSBURGH, PA - August 5, 2002- Calgon Carbon Corporation (CCC)
is pleased to announce today that the Engineered Solutions Group
has acquired German DVGW Standard W294 Certification on the Sentinel
UV Disinfection Reactor.
This certification is only one of the two industry standards
/ protocols accepted worldwide by the drinking water industry
and governmental regulatory agencies. This milestone will accelerate
Calgon Carbon's penetration into the Drinking Water Market, and
further enhance the position of the Sentinel product
line as a leading contender for providing Validated Surface Water
UV Systems.
Wayne Lem, senior process engineer for Calgon Carbon relates;
"This Certification is only a first effort in a series of
forth coming Medium and Low Pressure model certifications, particularly
with regard to large flow/ high UV dose capacity reactors. Obtaining
reactor certification is required and necessary, in order to standardize
and guarantee the performance of systems which the general public
is depending upon to safe guard their drinking water." Calgon
Carbon is proud to have the two largest operating Medium Pressure
UV Disinfection Reactors in the world used as a Cryptosporidium
and Giardia barrier.
Chuck Fluharty, Director of Sales and Marketing for Calgon Carbon
states; "Calgon Carbon has committed substantial resources
to the DVGW and other Certification Processes and will continue
to do so, along with working closely with Design Engineers and
End User Clients, to foster understanding and acceptance of Calgon
Carbons' CFD Modeling data and its close correlation to bioassay
tests and studies. It is our intention to design and build UV
products for worldwide distribution".
