Chemical Manufacturing
- Fugitive Emissions: Throughout the chemical manufacturing process,
VOCs can be emitted from pumps, valves, sample collection points,
seals, and the like. These emissions can be recovered and reused with
a custom Solvent Recovery System. If reuse is not economically
desirable, the compounds can be captured and destroyed using a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system followed
by a thermal oxidizer.
- Point Source Emissions: VOC emissions from chemical manufacturing
point sources such as stacks, laboratory vents, reactors, storage
tanks, and material loading and unloading operations require
control. Emissions from these operations can be captured and destroyed
with Revolver®-Z or
CADRE® systems
followed by a thermal oxidizer.
- Process Wastewater: Chemical manufacturing produces wastewater
containing chemical products, spent solvents, and other compounds. An Advanced Distillation
System can be used to separate the compounds in the wastewater and
recover those with value, while ensuring that the discharged
wastewater meets MACT standards.

Chlorobenzene

Circuit Boards
The Rayox® UV oxidation process is used to destroy specific organics and TOC that are present in process water for circuit board manufacture.
Citric Acid Demineralization
An ISEP® can be used to continuously remove ions from a citric acid stream.
Coating (Aerospace)
Application of prime and topcoats to aircraft components and surfaces. Use of solvent-based paints can produce VOC emissions. Cleaning of painting equipment with solvents can also produce VOC emissions. These emissions can be captured and then destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system, followed by a thermal oxidizer.
Coating & Surface Finishing (Automotive)
VOC emissions occur during the paint storage, mixing, application, and drying operations in the automotive surface finishing process. These emissions stem from the organic solvents used as a carrier for the paint. These emissions can be captured and then destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system, followed by a thermal oxidizer.
Coating (Metal Fabrication)
The coatings used in the manufacture of metal products such as cans, structural steel, nails and bolts, hardware and tools, plumbing, and general mechanical equipment are often solvent-based. The VOC emissions from these coating operations can be captured and destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system followed by a thermal oxidizer.
COD Destruction
The Rayox® UV oxidation process is used to oxidize COD when it is present in process water for chemical, pharmaceutical, or semiconductor applications. UV energy is combined with hydrogen peroxide to accelerate an oxidation/destruction reaction.

Composite Processing (Aerospace)
Many aircraft components are constructed of composite materials rather than metal. The composite material process includes curing in a vacuum oven. Volatized components of the resins can be captured and then destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system, followed by a thermal oxidizer.
Copper/Vanadium
An ISEP® can be used to continuously remove copper and vanadium from an adipic acid feed stream.
Cryptosporidium
The Sentinel UV disinfection system is used to inactivate the cryptosporidium parasite when present in drinking water supplies. When these organisms are exposed to low doses of UV light, their DNA is affected and they can no longer replicate and cause waterborne intestinal disease.

Depainting (Aerospace)

Dichloroethylene

Electronics
Preparation of the panel and shadow mask, as well as the finishing of cathode ray tubes, can produce VOC emissions from the solvents used in these processes. These emissions can be captured and then destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system, followed by a thermal oxidizer.
Ethylene Glycol
The Rayox® UV oxidation process is used to oxidize glycol found in industrial wastewater. UV energy is combined with hydrogen peroxide to accelerate an oxidation/destruction reaction.
Fermentation (Pharmaceuticals)
Solvent vapors and process wastewater are produced during the extraction, product dissolution and precipitation, and separation steps of the fermentation process. Solvents can be recovered using custom Solvent Recovery Systems or captured and destroyed using Revolver®-Z or CADRE® systems with thermal oxidizers. Process wastewater can be treated to MACT standards using Advanced Distillation Systems.

Furniture
- Assembly: Furniture assembly includes the use of solvent-based
adhesives such as methyl isobutyl ketone and toluene in the gluing and
veneer processes. These solvents produce VOC emissions. These
emissions can be captured and then destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system, followed
by a thermal oxidizer.
- Pre-Finishing: In the derosination step of furniture
manufacturing, ammonia and acetone to remove resin. Acetone emissions
can be captured and then destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system, followed
by a thermal oxidizer.
- Finishing: A variety of solvents are used in the staining,
washcoating, filling, sealing, painting, and topcoating of
furniture. A custom Solvent Recovery System can often be used to
recover valuable solvents for reuse. When recovery and reuse is not
practical, the VOC emissions can be captured and destroyed with a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system followed
by a thermal oxidizer.
- Clean-up Operations: Solvents are used to clean the brushes and
spray guns used in finishing operations, as well as to clean the
piping and booths used in the finishing process. These lacquer
thinners can be recovered and reused by utilizing a custom Solvent
Recovery System, or captured and destroyed using either a Revolver®-Z or CADRE® system, followed
by a thermal oxidizer.
Giardia
